About Sarah

Sarah's Story

Sarah was raised in Eau Claire, Wisconsin by her parents, Dave and Ann. She is a 5th generation Wisconsinite with longstanding roots in Western Wisconsin. Sarah spent winters snowmobiling and summers swimming at her family cabin in Trego, Wisconsin. After attending college and building a career in the private sector, Sarah returned to Wisconsin with her husband Max. She is dedicated to this state, and honored to serve as your State Treasurer.

Sarah's Belief

Sarah always believed that social good does not have to come at the expense of sound business principles. During a women microfinance project in rural India, Sarah experienced how the infusion of financial and human resources from local banks not only empowered entrepreneurs, but transformed entire communities. A few years later, she co-founded MaSa Partners to support entrepreneurs in their quest to transform socially responsible initiatives into financially sustainable businesses. Sarah saw a need in her home state of Wisconsin for smarter investment strategy and sustainable fiscal management. After leading the effort to save our State Treasurer's office, she stepped up to run for the position. She now brings her extensive knowledge of investments and financial best practices to the State Treasurer's Office.

Sarah's Commitment to the Community

Sarah's work has supported a wide range of missions from education to the arts, and from international development to the wellbeing and health of veterans and service members. Recently, she chaired the US Fund for UNICEF's Advocacy Committee and served on one of its regional boards. Additionally, Sarah is involved in a variety of initiatives to address the gender gap, including electing women to public office and increasing access to capital for women.

Sarah stepped up to run for the State Treasurer's office after founding the committee, Save Our Fiscal Watchdog, to reject the Constitutional Amendment being considered as a statewide referendum in Spring of 2018. Her grandmother and parents, both public educators, inspired her sense of duty to her community. She is honored to serve as your State Treasurer.
